WELCOME FIGHT FANS!
@  lololol : (22 May 2013 - 04:40 PM) Sorry. Stepped away. Later, Dave.
@  DaveMurphy : (22 May 2013 - 04:30 PM) Later, Jake
@  DaveMurphy : (22 May 2013 - 04:29 PM) Are the ratings actually that good or just that they don't have to pay licensing fees to a major college body (NCAA) or a Professional League (NBA, etc.)?.
@  DaveMurphy : (22 May 2013 - 04:27 PM) Look at how they promote X-Games.  It's always "X-Games Barcelona"  or  wherever they happen to be, like it's a olympics that happens once every four years and not every week. It's a blatant appeal to taylor a so-called sport toward the younger generation, but your right that they're saps and simply can't see through it.  Just like the Kardashians are really stars, if it's getting ratings then I'm not quite sure exactly why, but nobody ever went broke overestimating the american viewing public's intelligence.
@  DaveMurphy : (22 May 2013 - 04:23 PM) I've noticed they've had less poker lately, so that's a good start.
@  lololol : (22 May 2013 - 04:15 PM) The X games stuff in particular. Not like it's poker being passed off as a sport.
@  lololol : (22 May 2013 - 04:13 PM) Also, I don't buy in to that fake sports stuff. Who are we to say? All sports are real sports.
@  lololol : (22 May 2013 - 04:13 PM) Well, they made their bones in fake sports. And the X games get great ratings. Why they keep expanding it every year.
@  DaveMurphy : (22 May 2013 - 03:57 PM) Stick to REAL sports and not pretend ones.
@  DaveMurphy : (22 May 2013 - 03:56 PM) If I had my way,  they'd accomplish their 10% cut by simply doing away with the X-Games shit :)
@  DaveMurphy : (22 May 2013 - 03:56 PM) Maybe cut a few cards out of the schedule, but boxing is a dependable preformer for them, registering consistent, if not spectatcular, ratings.
@  DaveMurphy : (22 May 2013 - 03:54 PM) I can't imagine ESPN ever getting fully out of the boxing bizz.
@  lololol : (22 May 2013 - 03:48 PM) boxing could go 2 ways.  not even on the radar, or cut for that exact reason.  if that makes any sense.
@  DaveMurphy : (22 May 2013 - 03:46 PM) Yeah, it does.
@  DaveMurphy : (22 May 2013 - 03:45 PM) I guess all the Disney companies are making the 10% cuts, it's not ESPN in particular.  I just hope it's limited to personnel,  because if they try and cut their cheapo boxing budget 10%, they'll be charging guys to fight on there :)
@  lololol : (22 May 2013 - 03:45 PM) they are also saying the some of the layoffs include empty jobs that will not be filled.  that sounds like spin to me, though.
@  DaveMurphy : (22 May 2013 - 03:15 PM) I heard they employ over 4000 people, so the 400 layoffs account for roughly 10%.  My guess it will be more technical people and staff.
@  lololol : (22 May 2013 - 03:07 PM) doubt any on-air talent wil be affected, unless they cancel whole shows.
@  DaveMurphy : (22 May 2013 - 03:00 PM) We can only hope that Todd Grisham is one ;)
@  George J : (22 May 2013 - 02:41 PM) ESPN lays off hundreds
