Boxing returned to Fairfield California Friday night as once again Paco Presents and Don Chargin productions brought fights back to the Fairfield sports center.

In the main event Fairfields Alan Sanchez took on Clint Coronel of San Jose in a bloody crowd pleasing brawl.
Coronel came out fast backing Sanchez up early with his rough house style. Sanchez began to back up and box using his jab early on to keep Coronel at bay and control the opening round.
In round two Coronel continued to try and walk down Sanchez plodding through Sanchez’s jab to get inside. Most of the round was spent clinching and wrestling. On the inside Coronel landed a few nice body shots.
In round three Sanchez began to pick up the pace opening up on Coronel. Sanchez landed several nice hooks to both the body and head of Coronel. After tasting some of Sanchez’s power, Cornel immediately went back to the inside wrestling for the remainder of round.
Round four was more inside fighting and clinching. Coronel stayed on Sanchez’s chest for most the round smothering his punches and attempting to land some body shots of his own, some landing low.
Coronel opened round five with a nice left hook that stunned Sanchez momentarily. Sanchez bounced back scoring with and uppercut. Coronel went right back at Sanchez’s body but once again strayed low. This time referee Dan Stell took a point from Coronol. Sanchez comes back strong landing a big hook that opened up a cut over the right eye of Coronel.
Round six was more of the same, Sanchez trying to box and get distance while Coronel bull rushes in.
Round seven saw Coronel once again coming out and immediately wrestling to get inside. Sanchez backed up and started to target the cut more and more with his jab. The referee stopped the action for a third time to allow doctor Ketchum to examine the damage again. This time they had seen enough and Ketchum stopped the fight.

In the co feature, former amateur star Manuel “Tino” Avila of Fairfield makes his third appearance at the Fairfield Sports Center this year took on Salvador Cifuentes of Chula Vista, California.
Cifuentes came out swinging wildly early on, missing most of his shots. Avila started patiently working his jab and a couple of nice hooks. A solid right seemed to stun Cifuentes in the final minute of the opening round. Avila punctuated the round with a couple of nice body shots.
In round two Avila again came out behind the jab using it to set up a two nice left hooks. Cifuentes began to swell under both eyes as round two went on. Avila finished the round with a a nice combo that bloodied Cifuentes nose.
Round three was more of the same as Avila showed his superior skill using the jab and landing to the body for most the round.
The fourth and final round saw more combinations from Avila for the first minute or so. A clash of heads opened a cut on Cifuentes around the half way point of the round. Cifuentes seemed to try and pick up the pace after the cut but Avila tightened up his defense and boxed to close the fight.
Manuel Avila wins by unanimous decision scores where 40-36 across the boards.

In the joke of the night featherweight prospect Guy Robb of Sacramento knocked out Tyshawn Sherman of Hesperia, California in one round. Sherman immediately got on his bike from the opening bell retreating around the ring. Bobbing and weaving, feinting and doing just about everything but throwing a punch. Sherman continued this for most of the opening round. Finally after chasing his opponent around Robb cut off the ring and landed a solid right that immediately staggered Sherman, backing him into the corner. Now on the ropes Robb opened up his assault forcing the ref to step in and stop the barrage of punches.
Time of stoppage was 2:28 of round number one. Guy Robb improves to 5-0 2Ko’s while Tyshawn Sherman drops to 0-1.

In a four-round jr welterweight bout, Fairfield’s Omar Sanchez took on Jhonnathan Zamudio of San Francisco, California. In a fast paced opening round both fighters came out swinging. Zamudio lands a big right hook that drops Sanchez. After recovering from the knockdown Sanchez bounces back scoring with a flurry of his own to end the round.
In round two Sanchez comes out strong trying to box a bit more and scoring with the jab. A few nice combos by Sanchez punctuate the round.
Again in round three Sanchez comes out the aggressor and takes control with his jab. Sanchez lands a nice left hook as well. During the next exchange the fighters clash heads opening a good size cut on Sanchez.
Doctor Smith Ketchum stops the fight because of the accidental foul. The bout is ruled a no contest since it was stopped before the fourth round was completed.
Omar Sanchez remains 0-2 while Jhonnathan Zamudio was making his pro debut.

In a four round Jr middleweight fight Former amateur standout and professional mixed martial arts prospect Mike Ortega of Sacramento took on Mike Alexander of of Antioch, California.
Ortega starts the fight quick establishing the jab. Ortega scores with a nice combo that staggered Alexander early on. Ortega’s hooks begin to land with ease. Ortega scores with a big left to back up Alexander again as the bell rang to end the round.
In round two Ortega began to work the body which started to take its toll immediately. Ortega also pumped the jab through Alexander’s guard through out the round.
Round three was more of the same as Ortega continued his attack. Landing the one tow combo over and over on Alexander. Alexander is wobbled a couple times through out the third round.
After couple of nice combos to open the fourth, Ortega drops Alexander with a big right hand. Mike Alexander got to his feet but referee Dan Stell had seen enough and waved off the fight at 1:50 of round four. Mike Ortega moves to 2-0 1 Ko and Mike Alexander drops to 1-5-3

In the opener Jr welterweight Jonathan Chicas defeated Michael Islas by unanimous decision. The opening round saw both fighters attempting to establish the jab. Both guys had their moments but Chicas scores with a nice flurry to end the round.
Islas again comes out firing the jab in round two. After being out boxed for the first half of the round Chicas bounced back with a nice left hook to the body. A few more rights land to the head to probably steal the round for Chicas.
Chicas started round three a little faster, landing a nice uppercut and big right hand. Chicas started busting up Islas with his combos, swelling up his eyes and bloodying Islas nose.
In the fourth and final round Chicas began to box more making Islas miss numerous shots. Chicas lands a couple of nice hooks to finish the round strong.
Scores where 40-36 & 39-37 twice.
